How To Help Us

Apply Now!

Olancho Aid Foundation seeks the most qualified volunteers for our schools and programs; interested individuals should allow sufficient time to complete the application process as we communicate between the U.S. and Honduras. Email is our primary means of communication, so please list the email address you check the most often.

  1. Fill out the online application, thoughtfully and completely answering each question. Please detail job and service experience pertinent to the volunteer position you are interested in. Any field marked with a Required. is required information.
  2. The volunteer coordinator will contact you to let you know we received your application. More information, such as a resume, may be requested.
  3. The volunteer coordinator will contact your references.
  4. After all three references have responded, the volunteer coordinator will be in touch to set up a mutually agreeable time for a phone interview. This is an opportunity for us to ask some specific questions about you and for you to ask questions you may have about volunteering. If you would like, we can put you in touch with current and former volunteers over email.
  5. The board of directors will review all your application materials and the volunteer coordinator will be in touch within a few weeks with a decision.

While Olancho Aid is funded primarily by Catholic parishes in the United States, we assist children and youth of various religious backgrounds. With this in mind, please specify your religious affiliation.

Do you have any health problems or dietary considerations that we should be aware of when considering you as a volunteer?

Please describe any hobbies or interests you may have that you think would be helpful when volunteering with us (such as art, music, sports, communications, theatre, etc.).

Please describe briefly your previous volunteer experience. Include the name of the organization, how you were involved with them, when (and for how long) you were a volunteer, and what the experience meant to you.

Olancho Aid's primary issue is education, and as such we are always looking for teachers. In Honduras, the school year runs from February through the end of October. For what length of time would you be available? Short term positions are for a minimum of four (4) weeks, while long term positions are for a minimum of ten (10) months.

Please identify which of these schools you are interested in volunteering for. Check any that apply.

What do your parents, girlfriend/boyfriend, friends, etc. think about you wanting to volunteer in Honduras?

Describe a serious problem, a conflict, or turmoil in your life and how you went about handling it.

What are three (3) factors that are instrumental in your wanting to volunteer (religious, personal, or moral values for example)?

Can you describe what you think or hope your life will be like in the year 2015?

To get to know you better, we would like to contact people who know you to request letters of recommendation. Please provide the names of up to three (3) people we can contact as references.

Please provide us with any further information or comments you think would be beneficial to us.
